Musings for the New Year

Happy New Year guys! Like the blink of an eye, 2023 is over, and a new year beckons. I learned something new while reading my Walk Through the Bible series of the day (specifically Gen. 3). It is true what they say, you can never finish reading the bible. When I got to Gen. 3:22 (NLT), my mind did a double-take! Like hold on, two trees were named! Did I read that right?! I had to go back to the reading for January 1 (Gen. 1 & 2) to see how I missed it. Lo and behold, there it was: the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (Gen. 2:9 NLT).

Moving into Gen. 3, we learn how man fell: they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Gen. 3:6, NLT). But what stood out to me most that made me realize two trees were named? The answer lies in Gen. 3:22 (NLT):

Then the Lord God said, “Look, the human beings have become like us, knowing both good and evil. What if they reach out, take fruit from the tree of life, and eat it? Then they will live forever!”

It got me thinking about the importance of the decisions we make. If Adam and Eve had eaten from the Tree of Life, they would have been immortal. Instead, they decided to eat from the tree they were warned not to eat from (Gen.2:16-17, NLT). And here we are today, because of that decision.

In the year 2024, we will be faced with many situations in life and we will face the result of every decision we make. Make sure you make the right decision, regardless of the situation you are facing. The Holy Spirit is there to guide you, and you can also ask God for help to make the right decisions (John 16:13, Heb. 4:16). In the prophecy for 2024, Daddy G.O. said “the wind is blowing” and because of it, there will be many opportunities. It is my prayer for you that you will make the right decisions that will enable you to grab these opportunities in Jesus' name.

P.S. If you are yet to give your life to Christ, why not make the best decision by accepting Him as your Lord and Savior (Rom. 10:9-10)? He is waiting for you (Rev. 3:20)
