Thank God for answered prayers as I had been dealing with writer’s
block for quite a while but God answers prayers and a one-minute sermon on IGTV
opened my mind to a very powerful lesson.
23. When Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the
flute players and the noisy crowd wailing, 24. He said to them,
“Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him. 25.
But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and
the girl arose. 26. And the report of this went out into all that
land. Matthew 9.
When
challenged by Pastor Steven Furtick, to come up with sermons based on
one-liners from a play called Hamilton, Bishop TD Jakes talked about the power
of being in the room based on the one-line "The Room Where it Happens". When we go through life, at different points in time,
different people occupy the room of our life. Some leave the room for the
better while others leave it looking like a tornado went through the room. But
as Bishop Jakes said in his spontaneous sermon, it does not matter who is in
the room with you or who has left the room. What matters is that Jesus is in
the room with you and because you’re in the room with the right person, you
will always get back up again and say to yourself: Though he slay me, yet will
I hope in Him (Job 13:15); A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at
your right hand, but it will not come near you (Ps. 91:7).
In
conclusion, even if everybody leaves your room, as long as Jesus is in the
room, you can still get back up again (I paraphrased Bishop Jakes). Ask
yourself, is Jesus in my room? If He isn’t, know that He is standing at the
door of your heart and knocking (Rev. 3:20). All you have to do is open the
door and let Him in. Have a great weekend!!
P.S.
Game of Thrones is baaaaack!!
